Week 4: Body mechanics Animation

This week, I chose to use the weightlifting video provided by my teacher to practice physical movements. First, I need to import the reference video into Premiere Pro, and then export it as a sequence of frames. Next, I enter Maya and import the sequence of frames as an image plane through View -> Image Plane -> Import Image. Then, I adjust the angle to position the reference in a suitable location.

The following video shows the completed Block animation based on reference. I can see that there are still many stiff and unnatural movements. Moreover, when the camera turns to other angles, it can be seen that the character’s center of gravity is off balance at certain moments. In the polishing process that follows, I will continuously adjust and refine the animation.
